- Organise for winder operations
- Access, interpret and apply compliance documentation relevant to the work activity
- Receive, interpret and clarify shift changeover details
- Select personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Perform equipment and work area pre-start checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Check records for outstanding maintenance/inspections and recorded defects to establish the operational status of equipment and if defective take action
- Identify, address and report potential risks and hazards
- Carry out start-up procedures, including checking that area is clear for operations
- Adhere to emergency procedures
- Apply dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure control cabin is environmentally and ergonomically sound
- Conduct shaft sinking using manual winder
- Communicate with relevant personnel
- Confirm kibble is ready for operation
- Energise the system, follow start-up procedures and operate winder to comply with directions from the person in charge
- Monitor and manage winder performance using appropriate indicators
- Adjust speed and movement
- Operate winder (or winders) for shaft sinking operations
- Carry out shutdown procedures
- Carry out winder inspections
- Conduct end-of-shift
